Should parents be accountable for overfeeding their children?

by Ho Tin

What is abuse? Abuse is a type of treatment which leads to harmful results. Will overfeeding a child lead to any harmful results? A child will be obese if he or she is overfed. As such, of course it is abuse to overfeed a child.

When the child is young, the body is growing. The body needs the right amount of nutrients, minerals, proteins, fats and carbohydrates to continuously grow at a steady rate. When the child is obese, the attention of the body will be shift towards creating a healthy body instead. As such, the focus on growing will be blurred. When the proper growing of the body is impaired, the body will not be able to function normally and properly when the child reaches adulthood. When the child reaches late 30s or 40s, signs will start to show and the body will begin to deteriorate at a much faster rate as compared to others.

When food is ingest, the body has to breakdown the food. If the amount of food taken is more than required, the body will need to work more and longer than required. When the body is overworked, the organs like heart, liver and kidneys will tend to have a shorter life span. If you rear fishes at home, try to overfeed them and soon before you know, all the fishes are dead.

Recently, there is more and more reported cases of a child be hospitalize due to kidney failure or stroke. Have you ever wondered why these incidents only happened in developed countries and not the 3rd world countries? It is abuse to overfeed a child. Overfeeding a child is like a slow paced murder.
