Last night as I went to bed.
A very large creature blew on my head.
"My hair is on fire," I said with despair.
And thickening smoke filled the air.
"I'm terribly sorry but I lost my wagon.
Can you find it for me?" asked a hapless dragon.
"What are you doing here in my room?
I don't have a wagon so please leave soon."
But the dragon just shook his big green head.
"If you don't find it I will soon be dead.
It is bluish purple with stripes of gold.
It was given to me when I was 200 years old."
"Now why in the world would a wagon be here?"
I asked the dragon without any fear.
The dragon replied, "The snootches took it from me."
I chased after them but they laughed with glee."
This didn't make any sense to me.
"What are the snootches and who can they be?"
The dragon explained that the snootches were mean.
They were creepy and crawly except for the queen.
"I know they dropped my wagon over here.
I followed them here. Do I make myself clear?"
So we looked in the bedroom, the kitchen and den.
And believe it or not found it in the end.
The wagon was lying by the basement door.
It dazzled the mind as it laid on the floor.
"Please take your wagon and fly far away.
Don't let the snootches come here to play."
So the friendly old dragon breathed a tender goodnight.
And in less than a minute was clear out of sight.
He left me a thank you gift upon my bed.
A sparkling crown that I put on my head.

If I spit fire
And had wings,
would you call me a dragon?
Or would you just laugh?

But in the desert sand
