house did also come with laundry facilities. Thank goodness I wouldn't have
to haul my laundry back and forth to a laundromat or to my parent's house. Tucked
in another corner of the basement was a fairly new, well working, wringer washer with a set of double rinse tubs. Well, unfortunately, this would mean that I would have to spend a bit more time than I would have liked, in this dreary little basement, but, it was MY place, so I knew I could cope. Oh, and as not to forget, in order to complete my laundry facilities, the house was equipped with a fully functioning clothes line in the back yard.
At least by the time night rolled around, I was sufficiently exhausted enough to
climb into bed (in my cramped bedroom) and fall asleep as soon as my head hit the
pillow. Well, that was until a fire truck would come roaring down the street around
three in the morning. I did say that I lived on a busy street. This was the main
thoroughfare for emergency vehicles as it wasn't too far from the fire station.
Every night, at least once or twice, I would be awakened from deep slumber by those
howling sirens, without fail.
Thankfully, I only had to live in this cute little house for less than a year. My
husband and I were able to purchase our very first, 3 bedroom home, that even though
wasn't a huge house, felt like a mansion to me.....complete with a 3 piece bath
ensemble, all in one room! My very first purchase was a brand new "automatic" washer
and dryer.
