Tips for improving restaurant service

I can't remember what television show I was watching, but the couple in this show went to dinner. The nicer this couple was to their waiter the better he served them. They threw out compliments left and right and the waiter ate it up. He felt that he had to live up to their expectations (and get a good tip)! The waiter even complained to this couple about another table and how they were rude and didn't even acknowledge his existence.

At the end of their dinner when the waiter brought the check they turned the tables and were rude. Then of course, the service went down hill from there. Luckily they had already been served their meals and were ready to leave.

It was quite humorous, but I am almost certain that if you tried this in a modern day restaurant it would work just the same.

I have never been a waitress, but I'm sure that they feel they need to be recognized for their hard work and a few compliments here and there would boost their self esteem and make them better servers.

My husband and I are planning on trying this technique the next time we dine out. If you decide to do the same, make sure you are nice and generous before you turn the tables. This will aviod having your food spit in!
