The question was raised: "Why would a lawyer want to have the financial statements of one of the world's largest philanthropic organizations, if he didn't want a piece of it?"
In any civil case the attorney for the plaintiff needs to know if the defendant has the financial wherewithal to pay out a claim. He also needs to know the extent of defendant finances on which he can base the monetary damage(s) claim.
"This man must be a self absorbed piece of work to be fighting against perhaps the United States premiere organization that focuses on the protection of the family!"
The author of the original article seems to be more concerned with the perception of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints than with the issue he brought forth in his title - Reflections: Kelly Clark - a sex abuser's role as a sex abuse lawyer.
Our author is more intent on criticizing and insulting Mr. Clark than making a valid and credible argument against him.
The article cited states "Twelve years ago, an alcoholic rampage and a guilty plea to a sex offense involving an ex-girlfriend put a sudden end to his promising future in politics, leaving him gutter-bound."
We are not told what the offense was however we do know it was a plea made in relation to a crime involving his girlfriend, someone of legal age of consent.
To use that plea against him for being plaintiff attorney in a chid abuse case is false logic.
"Go back to the gutter you creep!" is the last line of our author's treatise.
It lets the reader know that this "article" was not written to give knowledge. It was, instead, written as a rant.

"I read this article (http://www.sltrib.com/ci_7081670) in the Salt Lake Tribune about a child abuse case against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and saw something quite interesting:
"The Mormon church has been ordered to turn over extensive financial records in another sex abuse lawsuit filed by Clark, and the Oregon Supreme Court rejected a church appeal.
Clark said settlement talks are continuing in that case. "
Why would a lawyer want to have the financial statements of one of the world's largest philanthropic organizations, if he didn't want a piece of it? So I googled "Kelly Clark Oregon Lawyer" which turned up 1: "Strange Bedfellow
Once a gay-rights hero, Kelly Clark now leads the legal charge to halt same-sex marriage" and his web site. I confirmed that the two were the same person because they both had pictures the man.

My favorite part about the first article was this bit: "By all rights, Clark shouldn't be standing in front of the cameras today: His career was supposed to be dead. Twelve years ago, an alcoholic rampage and a guilty plea to a sex offense involving an ex-girlfriend put a sudden end to his promising future in politics, leaving him gutter-bound."
How hypocritical to now be standing as the sex-abuse lawyer, when he himself was one!? Yes, some will say, "Oh he's giving back to the community", what the crap? Should we have made Hitler in charge of prosecuting human rights violations should he have survived? NO! One strike and your out buddy!
This man must be a self absorbed piece of work to be fighting against perhaps the United States premiere organization that focuses on the protection of the family!
Go back to the gutter you creep!"

I also was intrigued by the Willamette Week article discussing the incongruity of Clark's actions when I first came across
Well, I am from Oregon and have followed Oregon politics and policy for years now. And I actually know Clark, though not
