The top historical sights to see in Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is definately not your typical beach venue! True, it is tropical, beautiful, and abounds with white sand beaches and rich green vegetation every where you look, but it also provides tourists with many opportunities to discover the rich Mayan history that runs deep in Cancun. For a trip back in ancient history you can escape to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza or Tulum by charter bus and a long scenic drive or you can have the same type of experience on a smaller scale by simply by visiting an amazing place known as Xcaret.

Xcaret is a ecological and archaeological theme park that is so wild and so free. Unlike traditional zoo's here in the States you will not find animals displayed behind bars and heavy glass. Rather you will enjoy them up close and personal with only natural barriers between you. Snorkeling enthusiast will enjoy the lagoons and water ways filled with exotic fish. In the evening Xcaret hosts a wonderful show in their Mayan theater which reenacts historical Mayan events. It is the perfect place to find in one stop all that makes Cancun so unique.

The hotel accommodations are easily found and range so vastly that a single person would find that perfect place to stay just as easily as a family traveling with young children. You may locate your favorite place with all the amenities you enjoy in the hotel zone of Cancun only a short drive from the airport. In the midst of the hotel zone tourist will find plenty of shopping and restaurants bustling with endless activities.
