Don't throw that eggshell out! Try these uncommon uses for eggshells.
Six Suggestions For Using Eggshells
1) Easter confetti eggs are fun to make and fun to break upon someone's head. Poke a hole at the top and bottom of an egg. Blow the egg, out of the eggshell, into a bowl to use for cooking. Rinse eggshell out and set aside to dry. Fill eggshells with paper, such as, shredded paper from paper shredder, paper circle holes from hole puncher, or purchase confetti, and place inside the eggshell. Place a small piece of tape over the eggshell holes to keep paper inside the eggshell. Have fun decorating filled eggshells with paint, glitter, fabric, or markers. The eggshell is now ready to crack on someone's head.
2) For dogs and cats add finely grounded eggshells to their food for calcium.
3) Place five empty eggshells into a plastic bottle sprayer with four cups of water. Let stand 24 hours. Removing the eggshells from the water prevents a sour odor when using the mixture in the future. Spray plants with bottled water mixture to help provide protein needed for growth.
4) Mix eggshells into your garden soil for extra calcium and to help repel cutworms. Prevent slugs from feeding on plants by placing pieces of eggshells along the base. Throw pieces of eggshells on top of newly planted garden seed rows to keep the birds from feeding on seeds.
5) Start to plant seeds by poking a small hole at the bottom of half an eggshell for drainage. Place half eggshells, filled with dirt and seed, in a reusable egg cartoon. Later, transfer seedling with eggshell to garden or plant container.
6) Egg art is very popular and easy to create your own designs. Search the Internet for craft ideas using eggshells, such as, decorating frames, pictures, jewelry making, Christmas or Easter ornaments, mobiles, flower bouquet of tulips, candles, and gifts.
Mass production of pulverized eggshells will aid scientists in mass production of hydrogen fuel which will lead to mass production of hydrogen cars. Eggshells absorb carbon dioxide and aid in the making of pure hydrogen. Companies will save money by not having to pay for tons of the organic waste dumped in landfills. The testing of pulverized eggshells is a new process in developing future environmental friendly cars.
Next time you crack an egg, try using uncommon ways to recycle that eggshell.
