chef), Casey (of the top three contestants, strong female chef, great attitude, was popular in live fan voting), and Dale (of the top three contestants, hilarious guy).

The winner of Top Chef Season 3 is Hung, the stronger technical chef throughout the competition. Ironically he was noted from the beginning of the season as a close friend of Marcel, runner up from Season 2. Some of Hung's winning dishes in the four course finale included duck with truffle scented broth and fresh hamachi.

In the finale Dale's seared scallop with marinated grapes was also noted by the judges as a top rated dish. Casey won several elimination challenges and proved to be a strong competitor on the way to become the first female Top Chef winner. Hung will move on to do great things in the cooking world, as will Dale, and Casey for sure was a great competitor who will remain #1 in many fans' opinions.

All shows include various challenges to test the versatility of the chefs and prove consistent taste and execution of their food. Each season presents some team challenges including catering events and always include a "Restaurant Wars" challenge where contestants split into teams to create a full restaurant experience from scratch.

Many contestants are owners, executive chefs or executive sous chefs at the restaurants where they work and most contestants seem to take away valued lessons and increased visibility from the experience of the show. The guest judges include top culinary instructors and restaurateurs, as well as legendary food icons Anthony Bourdain, Rocco DiSpirito, and Eric Ripert.
