Tips for surviving without a home Internet connection

First, I would like to ask the obvious here. What rock do you live under that you do not have an internet connection at home? Thinking about possibilities where you live in a cabin in the woods with only a typewriter or living off the grid so the feds can't find you I will proceed.

Ok, now that you are thoroughly chastised let's talk about your options

1. You can watch TV. This is still a time-honored tradition. Even though you had better be careful and keep in mind In a few short months that 1980 rabbit eared Zenith will no longer be able to pick up an analog signal with everything going digital. So, planning ahead and picking up a digital ready flat paneled TV might be a necessity to watch and see if and when the FEDs have surrounded your hovel.

2. Books, you can't go wrong with books and I would suggest ordering some from Amazon.com or Barns and Noble but I just now remembered you don't have access to the internet or internets so off to the bookstore or library with you.

3. That also brings up the library option. Most libraries now offer free internet access so you might be able to get your fix, order your books or publish your anti-technology manifesto by these means but then again the irony might be lost on you.

4. My final suggestion is to simply live close enough to a home or business offering unsecured or free internet access. This is no longer very hard to make happen. It is far easier if you live in an apartment and can probably locate four or five access points in such an area. This will allow you to download all of the pirated music from the internet you want. In addition, since it is not your internet access point the FEDs will not know that you just copied all the Grateful Dead and Metallica songs. Let the Freedom Rock RING FREEBIRD!
