Does a positive attitude help when your chronic illness becomes worse

You must keep a positive attitude when it comes to chronic illness or you will allow your ailments to overcome you and make you worse off. For a person with Fibromyalgia, a syndrome characterized by chronic pain in the muscles of soft tissues surrounding joints, fatigue, and tenderness at specific sites in the body, there is not one day they are pain-free. If you let the pain overcome you and just lie around complaining about how much you hurt, the added stress makes the pain even that much worse.

You cannot sit around and dwell on the illness or the situation it has put you in, even on the bad days. You must get out of the house, find friends and family, get some kind of exercise and stretch. Do anything to keep your mind off of the pain and this allows you to focus on a better life for yourself. Try to find a hobby or two, like painting or knitting, whatever your body can withstand. The more you keep your mind off of your illnesses, the better off you will be, especially when it comes to pain.

You can't lay around in bed just watching television and letting your life pass by. You have to make a life for yourself. Do NOT let these illnesses, whatever they may be, take over your body, mind, and soul. Take charge and better yourself by doing gentle stretching, short walks, meditation, invite friends over, go to the movies, and do whatever your particular illness will allow you to do.

It is important to get at least 15 minutes of sun each day. Don't stay shut up in your house, open those blinds, let the world in. Your depression will only get worse if you close yourself in and shut the world out. Live your life, no matter what ails you! Seek out support groups, a therapist, talk with your doctor or find out other options that can help you get through each day, happily.

Your mindset and how you view the world and your condition is very important. If you're totally miserable all the time, you're not being fair to yourself. You have to always have faith that you will someday get beyond the illness. You have to learn to live and you have to learn to love. If you don't love yourself or life, due to your condition, and stay cooped up just letting the days pass by, then you are not being fair to yourself or allowing yourself time to heal.

Stay positive, always seek advice, and learn all you can about your chronic illness. You'll be amazed at the things you can do to make yourself feel better both emotionally and physically. The more you learn, the more power you gain over your condition. You can learn what foods to eat or not eat, that help you feel better. You can learn deep breathing exercises and when things get tough, go to your special place in your mind. Close your eyes and go to the ocean. Remember how the sand feels, hot between your toes. How the waves sound as they come crashing in on the rocks. How the sun feels warming your body. Stay in your happy place as long as possible.

Do what you need to do, to not let your illness or disease take over. You are in control and always will be, you have just hit a bumpy spot in the road. Don't ever give up and never give in, you can get through this. Stay positive, stress-free, and eat healthy and live your life to the best of your ability.
