Travel experiences: Bangkok, Thailand

sympathetic person but some of the situations I encountered made me re-think my faith in humanity. On one occasion, when walking out of the shopping centre onto a busy road, a young girl, about the age of five years old, grabbed hold of my leg. She would not let go. Within seconds a woman, whom I assumed was her mother, held out her hand to indicate that she wanted money. I gave her some coins but the girl would not let go. I felt angry and trapped. How could anyone let a child be exploited in this way? I know that desperation can lead people to do all sorts of things, but this was emotional blackmail of the highest order. It felt wrong to give in. My friends gave the woman some more money. The girl finally let go.

However, sitting in an open-air vehicle, with the wind in my hair and a smile on my face, I thought more about my holiday highlights. I had relaxed, eaten some amazing food, held a 50ft python around my neck, danced with Lady-boys and explored the city via Tuk-Tuk at night.

As we made our way back to our hotel rooms, on our last night in Bangkok, I knew that I had caught the bug. I was ready to do some real exploring.

The high-pitched engine stopped. We had reached the hotel. I would definitely come back, to experience more of this exotic city.
