Juggling men: How to feel guilt-free when dating multiple men

Women juggling men is a concept most of us have contemplated but few of us have tried not for long anyway! It's a dangerous game to play. But does it have to be? "Sex in the City's," Samantha Jones did it. So why can't we?

Social and religious conditioning is largely responsible for our beliefs about juggling multiple partners. Generally speaking, Women are still viewed as "Jezebels", while men behaving in the same manner as "Don Juans."

Somehow as women we were pushed into the wife-mother-chattel role and never quite managed to raise ourselves above that expectation.

It is a truism that when we commit to the responsibility of child-bearing and the consequent years of nurturing, everything changes. The support and stability of a monogamous relationship is well highly advantageous.

So, maybe the concept of "juggling men" can only seriously be pondered by those of us without children, who never want to have children, or the children have already flown the coop.

However, how easy is it for women to juggle multiple partners and remain guilt free?

Feminism has had its impact, but for many of us, insecurity about our own sexuality keeps us from true sexual emancipation.

This is where "Sex in the City's" Samantha Jones had it all worked out. Okay, so she was just some fictional character, but if we truly desire to emancipate ourselves from the tether of "sexual taboo" we must walk in her footsteps.

Samantha showed us that having multiple partners doesn't have to be sleazy. She explored both her own sexuality and that of her present partner, by sharing herself without reservation. She embraced her own vulnerability.

Samantha demonstrated to us that by having a positive view of our bodies and of our sexuality that "dating" multiple men can be, not only immensely pleasurable but an enlightening experience. How so? Quite simply: to be "enlightened" is to live right here and right now, with no possessiveness or expectation for the future. It is this wanting to possess and expectation for some form of commitment that gets many of us unstuck.

Not all of us are cut out for such sexual adventure. It takes a brave person to free herself from indoctrination, and the secure binds of a monogamous relationship, but maybe for those of us who do, the rewards are bountiful!
