In the year 2007, women walk the streets in fashion disasters daily, such as a brown shirt paired with black pants or an item of clothing that is so wrong for their body type. But the real question is; Do these women know what the basis of every fabulous wardrobe is? I'm here to teach the women in America what to buy to slowly but surely be turned into a diva that can walk the streets, with heads turning for all the right reasons. I've compiled a list of four items that every woman should have in her closet, regardless of age or size.

1) A great pair of black pumps
Black heels have been seen on everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Jackie Onassis, but who says the average American woman can't own a pair, too? They elongate the wearer's legs, and can be paired with anything from a basic white tee to a vintage Galliano. Make sure that these shoes are versatile enough that they can be worn to work and also a fancy benefit. Don't be afraid to spend a little bit more on this item, as you will be wearing them often. But please, avoid fake rhinestones or other trashy accents, as you are just throwing your money away. Make sure that the shoes fit properly, and if you do all your homework, they should be a timeless style that will always be present on the fashion do list.

2) A little black dress
What's with the black? you might ask, but black looks great on everyone, and trims a few pounds from your waistline every time you slip the color on. Every woman should have a little black dress in her closet that makes her feel empowered and the queen of the world, and this item of clothing should also be one that you can wear out to lunch with the girls and to the opera, and not feel out of place at either event. When I say "little black dress", I don't mean a cloth that barely covers your body; I mean a dress that skims the middle of your kneecap at the longest. Searching through racks of clothes for your perfect little black dress can seem difficult at times, but it's all worth it at the end when you're the belle of the ball. Avoid trashy accents such as faux rhinestones and excessive embroidery, as these will go out of style quickly. A dress with a cowl neck or one with thick straps and a subtle v-neck is ideal, as you don't want to show too much cleavage. Try not to purchase a dress with spaghetti straps, as this style can look too casual at times. Again, don't be afraid to splurge on this item, as you will wear it time and time again for years to come.
