The darkness, my comfortable shield
Shut out the world, noise,
Constant confusion, and pain.
Stars mark my passage,
Each one a road once traveled.
Good or bad, the memories remain.
Times to be praised and enjoyed,
Times filled with mourning and misery
The moon, my diary, marks my travels,
Showing the scars left behind,
Listens to my screams of rage,
Torrential tears, and shows
Jagged cuts of pain.
The wolves bear witness
In their lonesome songs.
The owls and hawks send
Piercing voices to the night sky.
For this moment in space and time,
I feel as one with Mother Earth,
A feeling of belonging wraps my soul.
I'm finally, at peace, content, at home.
