First of all I would like to share an experience about a friend and her daughter. I met this woman and her daughter when her daughter was about 4 years old. She was very hyper and had a hard time fitting in at school. She lived in a chaotic environment and was acting out quite a bit. I used to babysit her once in awhile. Sure enough when she was around 8 or 9 years old her mother was telling me that her daughter was diagnosed as ADD. They wanted to put her on Ritalin. I had a talk with her daughter one evening when I was babysitting. I told her to consider the situation in this way:
She was like an orange with a bunch of apples and the apples didn't know how to relate to oranges. I told her that she would have to have a lot of patience and that she might have some challenges but that because she had a lot to offer to a system that needed changing. I told her about the many beings of light that are with people that have those labels attached to them because they are a head of the crowd. Those beings are to assist them to be the leaders that they are meant to be. I told her to send them pink bubbles of love because that is a very powerful thing to do.
Her mother chose not to have her medicated. She asked me the next morning what I had said to her because she was amazed at the difference in her daughter's behaviour. I said to the mother "never underestimate the power of love".
Of course I could talk to the daughter in that way because I have been there myself only I have gone an almost completely alternative route than the medical system. I instinctively knew that the drug route was not the way to go. The issue is about numbing. The drugs numb us further.
As I started to discover what was happening energetically from a shamanic healer I had people that said to me that perhaps I was ADD as if who I am could ever be a label. So I attended ADD/ADHD support groups for a while to talk to others. I was appalled at the number of people that were willing to be on drugs and have a label stuck to them for the rest of their lives. Over and over I was hearing people say that they were relieved at the diagnosis because they had discovered what was wrong with them. To me ADD stands for: ATTENTION DIFFERENT ORDER.
I'd like to say here that drugs are meant to be a temporary solution and are not a lifelong band aid to cover an issue that goes much deeper than a surface appearance in the physical reality. Most people that I know who are on the drugs seem to be very monotone in their
