Choosing the best Republican candidates for President in 2008

The best overall Republican candidate, in my view, is Duncan Hunter. While he is not one of the so-called top tier candidates, he's a solid conservative because he believes that our borders must be secured and our enemies must be destroyed. This kind of moral clarity is essential as we face internal and external enemies who are hell-bent on destroying America.

The external enemies are terrorists who plot ways to kill innocent civilians as they did on 9/11/01. The internal enemies are the political left, who call our brave soldiers murders and demand legal rights for foreign terrorists who we've captured on the battlefield. Liberals seem to forget that US Constitutional rights do not extend to foreign nationals who are captured enemy combatants. Furthermore we have not rounded up scores of American Muslims as we did in WWII when we jailed Japanese Americans.

Another fact that escapes most liberals is that American sovereignty means something. That's why we must secure our porous borders with solid, physical fences. Duncan Hunter did this in his congressional district in San Diego and it was phenomenally successful. He also did it in the face of those who falsely accused him of being a racist, bigot and xenophobe. Standing firm in your beliefs, and not wavering to the hateful attacks of your enemies, is the cornerstone of a leader.
