Valentine's day crafts for children

by Heather

Valentine's day is such a great holiday. Children all over the globe cut out all these hearts and paste away. There has always been a favorite Valentine's day craft that I have always loved to make. It's the old shoe box, mail box that all the kids make to receive their valentine cards when they are Young. I always loved creating mine. There were so many great things to add. Hearts were a must of course. Basically all you do, is get an old shoe box and decorate it.

First get your pink, red and purple construction paper out. If you don't like these colors, use what ever colors you would like. Once you have found the perfect colors, start covering that old shoe box with all your paper. You might want to have your Elmer's glue handy. Your going to need it. Tape goes a long way, if you feel it will hold some places a bit better. Make sure you cover the whole bottom part of the box first. Once you are finished, have an adult help with cutting gout a slit or square on the top of the lid. This way, all your cards will fit when you receive them from all the other kids in your class. Next wrap your lid in the same construction paper just like your wrapped the bottom half of the box. Again, have an adult fix the top of the box so that your cards will fit threw the whole you first created. Now that you are all finished with the first step, lets move on to step two.

The second step is to cut out all colors and sizes of hearts that you wish to use. Once they are all cut out, paste away. Add the hearts any place on your box that you wish. You can even add a few of your extra Valentine cards as stamps on your box. Just paste them all over the box. This way, it looks like your decorated box traveled from far to be with you. Kinda like an old chest. After you are done pasting everything and allowed it all to dry, get your crayons out. You can draw hugs and kisses all over your box. Add some big red lips and some arrows going threw the hearts. If you buy sparkle glue, you can add it all around your hearts and trace your hugs and kisses too.

For your last step, don't forget to add your name some place on your box, so you get all your valentine cards. Other than that, have fun decorating and add anything that looks great on your box.
