Looking for a fright this Halloween? The best place to go when you could use a good scare is to the movies. Whether it's a great classic or a modern day gore-fest, you can't go wrong with a good scary movie for great Halloween fun. Here are my picks for the scariest Halloween movies:
Halloween (1978)
Of course, it wouldn't be Halloween without John Carpenter's take on the holiday. Halloween is a classic scary movie and you can guarantee it will play at least once every Halloween. So pop the popcorn, kick back and prepare to be spooked by Michael Myers bloody Halloween rampage. It'll definitely get you into the holiday spirit.
Psycho
I'm a little ashamed to admit that I just recently saw this movie, but I can now say for sure that this is the perfect Halloween movie. There's nothing like seeing a man dress up as his mother to get you into the spirit of Halloween. Even though it's an older movie, it still can deliver a scare that will have you sleeping with the lights on.
When A Stranger Calls
This one's especially scary when you're all alone with the lights off. Since Halloween is a night for scares anyway, it would be the perfect opportunity to test your courage by watching this one alone. But don't forget to check the children before your nerves get the better of you.
Poltergeist
Do you believe in ghosts? Maybe Carol Ann getting sucked into the television will make you change your mind. The scene with the clown will probably have you throwing out all of your kid's dolls before the night is out. Every time I watch this movie I find myself jumping at every little noise that I hear around the house, which is why this one is a perfect choice to give you the Halloween jitters.
A Nightmare on Elm Street
What would a fright-fest be without a little bit of Freddy? This movie is a great way to make yourself jumpy on Halloween night. You'll be trying your best to keep from falling asleep for fear of meeting him in your dreams instead of on your television screen.
Saw
If you're looking for a lot of gore to go with that fright, then this is the movie for you. Not only will it get your Halloween scare juices flowing, it'll also have you ready to turn off the t.v. It's both scary and gory in a gross you out, but gotta keep watching sort of way. But hey, what's Halloween without a little bit of blood and guts right?
So there you have it folks. This Halloween, pick out your favorite scary movie and watch with all the fright and delight you can possible muster. After all, Halloween is about getting to be scared in a fun way and great horror movies can give you just that.
