Bad Things, Big Packages

Norton AntiVirus 2008, like its predecessors, is just another big name product that delivers no-name results. When I first owned a computer it was Norton programs that were protecting my information and my PC. Now I rely on free anti-virus software, as I get the same quality without the brand name prices. Norton AntiVirus 2008 is not worth my $40.00, nor is it worth yours.

Although it does and perhaps always will provide good virus protection the file size is unusually large for anti virus software. It does not support Firefox (only IE), which in my opinion is entirely essential of any product such as this. It does not support more recent versions of popular Instant Messaging software either such as AIM or Yahoo IM.

Norton AntiVirus 2008 fails in helping its users to understand the interface and configurations. Little is explained for the average novice or intermediate computer user. The interface is dark and plain and if first impressions are everything then the developers failed here as well.

I give Norton AntiVirus a 3 out of 5. The potential is there, if you're an IT Tech that is.
