Tottenham Hotspur's quest to break into the top 4? Am i reading it correctly or is their quest to break into the last 4? Frankly, I'm in favor of the Spurs team during the era where Steve Perryment was their captain with Glenn Hoddle, Ardiles in the team. That team really shows hunger when playing and this makes Spurs one of the best teams in the league.
However, the current Tottenham Hotspurs team is full of "stars" with big spending by Martin Jol this season. Everyone is expecting Spurs to perform with the big money spent. But frankly i did not see any "passion to win" by the team to at least be in the top 4. The defense is a flop with goalkeeper Robinson making lots of mistakes. One can argue that this is due to the lack of quality defenders like Ledley King who will be sidelined for a long period. But they still have players like Dawson and other internationals.

Upfront, one of the highest buy Marcus Bent had not been showing the potential worth of the price tag that Spurs had bought. In my opinion currently only Robbie Keane shows the "hunger" and "passion to win" to drive the club forward. This is clearly seen during the recent match against Liverpool where he scored both goals. As for the midfield side, they have all the quality players in Kaboul, Barry and Jenas. However, it seems that the coordination is not there and the players does not gel well currently.
I really wish to see the Spurs team breaking into the top 4 as they have all the quality players. However, i believe that Martin Jol need to find the "winning team strategy" in order to drag them form the last four standings in which where they are currently to the top four.
