These have always worked for me.
1. Try to always have a list, or know in your mind what you need.
2. Don't buy things you don't need on impulse.
3. Always check the sale bills, buy one get one free, store coupons, etc.
4. Buy cheaper brands on some of your stuff.
5. Shop at scratch and dent shops. At these places you can get top brands and top quality for less than half price.
6. When something that you use alot is on sale, try to stock up on it.
7. Buy in bulk when possible.
8. Clip and use cents off coupons, and be sure to use your coupons on double coupon days.
9. Don't waste food at home by cooking too much or letting things spoil in the fridge.
10. Don't buy pet food at the grocery store, you can get it cheaper at a Dollar store or Wal-Mart.
11. Grow a garden if you have the space.
12. Go fishing and/or hunting when in season.
