If I had a million pounds, I would first have to determine how it is that I came to be in Great Britain. A million pounds would roughly equate to 2.4 million Canadian dollars - or "Loonies" as we call them here.
And with 2 and a half million loonies, I would probably first investigate my ability to by the world a Coke. But given that the world is inhabited by more than four billion people - and indeed that is a lot of people - I would have to establish with the fine people at Coca-Cola some manner in which I could buy in bulk at the cost of 0.0006 cents per can. Should they agree to such a transaction, which is highly doubtful as these people have way to much caffeine flowing through for such charity - there would still be the matter of distribution.
Most likely I would simply pile those cans up in a field and have everyone come and get their own.
But that is most likely not the best investment for my new found 2 million, four hundred thousand Loonies. Instead I should most likely look to how I could impact the world positively in a more affordable manner.
I believe that our world problems mostly stem from not seeing each others point of view. Perhaps if I could provide such a vehicle - device - a means by which we could capture how we feel - in a device that captures it straight from your cerebral cortex, capture it to memory and play it back to others into their cerebral cortex's.
Like a glorified MP3 player.
Of course some people would be feeling better than others.
Those who are suffering or in misery would most likely not be very popular emotional downloads. Although they say "misery loves company" - I have come to find that company does not enjoy misery.
So more than likely the most popular emotional downloads would be those by people feeling pretty good. Perhaps Tiger Woods winning a major tournament, or a group of drunken football fans after their country wins the World Cup.
So in essence - we would not all know how each other feels, more that we would know how the really elite feel. And we would envy them. This might result in a world full of jealousy rather than the empathy and understanding that I originally thought my 2.4 million loonies were buying.
More than likely the whole world would first find out how Paris Hilton feels - as if they don't know already.
And who needs those copyright hassles anyways.
