Many people in the US are often required to travel on overseas assignments for business development,special projects,project execution and supervision etc.
Some of these countries where Americans have to travel may include the UK. China,Japan,Russia,Saudi Arabia,Kuwait,India etc. It is there advisable to take an appropriate medical insurance while on official tours to overseas countries.

The expenses for both outpatient and in-patient treatment in various countries are all different.There are not standardized.

Coverage against health risks for overseas travel is most often limited to only the very preliminaries in most home based insurance schemes.

Risks do exist to one's health related issues.Due to the variations in standards of drinking water,hygenic conditions,presence of contageous diseases,bird-flu,mad cow disease etc, it is always better to have a comprehensive health policy while travelling abroad.

The policy that is taken should be that of a good provider who has established with leading hospitals of other countries.

People travelling to the USA from overseas and intending to stay more than one month should also be advised to have health insurance.The healthcare costs in the USA may be prohibitively high for overseas citizens who come here for extended periods of time.
