Poetry: Racism

Prejudice

Black, white,
Yellow, red, or
Green,
What does all this mean?

Is not your blood
As red as mine?
Do tears roll down
Like mine do, when I cry?

You said you'd be my friend
Right down the bitter end,
I'm a little scared now,
Please, just hold my hand.

Don't quite know why.
They just won't let us be,
They all say
You're so different from me,
Yet, we laugh and we cry
Just the same.
I do not understand
This word,
Prejudice,
What does it mean?

Yes,
I know you're black,
You told me so
The first time we met,
But,
You'll have to help me out,
I see no difference,
I see no colors,

Cause you see

I'm blind.
