Reflections: Family

The 'Old Mans' Reflections

He walked as though he were on foam rubber instead of smooth, sealed, hard concrete. Head held high, he swaggered slight, enough to show people he was sure of himself and his position. Each movement was timed to perfection, no motion wasted. Only his lover stood in awe of him.

Flowing steel gray hair swept down to the middle of his muscular back while it framed his round face with waves. Laugh lines accentuated his mouth as his dark brown eyes sparkled with bits of gold and emerald. His beard and mustache were a mixture of black and white stripes.

The love emanated from his being like a summer sunbeam, warm and all consuming. It reached out, searching, capturing his partner a hundred feet away - - holding her his willing captive.

She turned as though she were moving through a time warp. Slowly, gracefully, sensing more than seeing her lovers gaze upon herself. Across the short distance they stared at each other, smiling secretly to each other, only seconds passing. The difference in their ages making no difference; their love ageless.

She had that pert, perky, quick-paced style. Her sun streaked hair pulled back in a banana clip ponytail, trailing behind as she made another perfectly timed turn. She worked on instinct; flawlessly, catching each manifest-coded operation without conscious thought. Her concentration was obviously very deep, but it wasn't on her work. She looked up, shyly, with that inner smile. He was watching. He was always watching, with that over-protective love flowing out and around. her. For all to see, who could see. The Old Man. Her Old Man and nobody had better mess with him she thought.

Their glances met, frozen, timeless. Two halves of one entity, each which had found the other for this frame in the field of continuing eternity. They were united, despite any obstacle or distance.

She felt the warmth of his love. He watched her shiver as though a slight breeze teased her tanned skin. He remembered her caress from that morning; light - teasing. Each finger causing a delicious exotic ripple through his body going further that he had thought possible. Deep into his soul. They had only found each other recently, but each knew, they had known the other, before. They had no problem with speaking to each other, they knew what the other was thinking, even if there were miles separating them. Their's was never ending.

He knew she sometimes couldn't look him straight in the eye.
