Whether you are in your chosen profession or not, your attitude about your job determines how well you are willing to do the work. By the same token, how well you do your job speaks volumes about your attitude. It takes a positive attitude to build a meaningful career, so if you have a bad attitude about your current job, you are not going to progress toward your work goals.
Let's say you are in a temporary job. Perhaps it is a stepping-stone for your future career plans, or maybe you took the job because you needed a paycheck. Whatever the case may be, if you think you don't need to worry about your performance, think again. Every type of work experience counts no matter what it is, because when you leave a job, you take a work reputation with you. People will say good things about you if you did your best on the job, and the opposite is true if you didn't. Don't think for one minute that you are above what you are doing. You are never too good for a job that was good enough for you to accept. Give it your all, or go do something else.
The best advice for any type of work is to keep a positive attitude. Be wary of workplace gossip and negativity, and avoid people who try to drag you down. Remember that misery loves company, so don't fall into that trap. Recognize it, then politely avoid it. If you feel you need to find another job, keep doing your best at your current job until you find one. Nothing will help you more in a career move than a shining work reputation from a previous employer. Aim your career goals high, but keep a positive outlook until you reach them.
