Cat behavior and quirks based on breed

What has four legs, two eyes, a tail, and a personality that is as individual as a fingerprint? The answer is the feline, one of the world's most popular pet choices next to the dog. Since their domestication, felines have traveled odd paths with their human companions. From guarding temples in ancient Siam, to being revered as gods by the Egyptians, to being hunted and killed as witch's companions, cats have always been a part of our human culture. So much so, that today we share our very homes with them. So much that we often times define ourselves by whether we prefer cats or dogs. Cats have intertwined their way into our hearts and culture, appearing on everything from TV commercials to comic strips. People devote their lives to breeding cats, showing cats, and expanding the public's knowledge about cats. But most people are just happy enough to share their lives with one.

Cats have always been known for being independent. The most natural thought for someone when asked what they think of when they hear cat' is a never-coming-when-called, self-cleaning, mouse catching, purring machine. The cat as a species is devoted to one thing: itself. Unlike dogs which live to serve their pack leader, mainly you, cats are concerned with serving themselves. Cats are solitary, often rejecting the idea of living in the same space as another animal even if they are of the same species. They are also natural born hunters, and if the opportunity arises, will kill little creatures and bring them to you as their trophy'. So you're probably asking yourself right about now why anyone would want to get a cat. Why? Simply because of all the cat's other personality traits. Cats are natural Nightingales', often comforting their humans in times of sickness. And there is nothing better than a soft, furry, purring body that has nothing better to do than be with you to chase away whatever stress or worries you had just a moment before. And once they bond with you, they are always there, whether they come when called or not.

When looking for a purebred cat, you have a lot of choices. Cats come in an amazing variety of colors, body shapes, and breeds. Some have short hair, some long, and some no hair at all. Some stay small and some have an average weight of up to twenty pounds. Some are exotic, some have been bred to look like their larger cousins, and some have been bred to be purely for show. There is no end of variety for the potential cat owner. But what a lot of people fail
