It is through our family bonds that, we learn to interact with others. We learn the value of manners and love. We learn the state of the world - through the opinions we hear and things left unspoken. We learn what kind of people to trust and, what kind to steer clear of in future endeavors. We watch our parents live and, gain from them a sense of self.
It is for this reason, strong family bonds are necessary. They are as necessary as breathing, eating, sleeping and our heart beat.
Let take a look at the single parent family, where the 'custodial parent' is bitter with the ex. Hatred is sold through actions. An example would be, denying access to the non custodial parent. Following it with words of hatred, disgust and ridicule of the non custodial parent. The children here this poison.
Children are the product of two parents. Children don't understand that, it has nothing to do with them. They only know that, they are part Mommy and part Daddy. Now they are faced with the dilemma that, they must hate a part of themselves. The even more damaging idea though is, that now - the custodial parent now hates a part of them.
This kind of dilemma - goes on all the time. Parents must think before they react. They must teach family bonds - not preach them. They must live family bonds. They must show their children how to love. They must show the value of family. They must show the reliability and acceptance of family.
As far as family values go - strong family ties is a must for the health and well being of every human being. Family ties show us, how to live our lives. What are you teaching your children?
