How to build a more meaningful career

CREATE YOUR OWN DESTINY

Building a more meaningful career means different things to different people. It may mean expanding and enhancing in your current career field, or it could mean evaluating and tacking a totally different career in a different line of work. It is important to evaluate what motivates you and identify your passion in life. That will help you determine how to build the most meaningful career for you.

Start by analyzing your current situation. Determine if you are happy in your career choice. If the answer is yes, evaluate your position, your opportunities for advancement and expansion of responsibilities, and the challenges it affords you on a daily basis. If these things are not attainable or accessible, then it may be the company you work for and not the field of work! Don't give up on a career field you love if it's the company or management style you dislike.

However, you may decide that your choice of careers is not exactly what you imagined and you are not happy with the choice. There are endless possibilities for obtaining other jobs and careers. Either way, you do have choices and you can adjust your circumstances to support your goals.

2. Determine what drives you and what you are passionate about. Some people are passionate about financial planning while others love interior design. Think about what gets you excited and what makes you want to get out of bed every day. That will help direct you to a meaningful career. Doing what you love is key to a meaningful career.

3. Consider the financial impact of various careers. What you love to do and what pays the most money are not always in synch.
