Shock and Awe. Remember that little ditty. President Bush was riding high in his popularity. America was attacked by terrorists and Bush was the president. Everybody tried to get behind him and win the war on terrorism. Iraq figured in to the mix early on and the United States attacked Iraq. That was the spring of 2003. Shock and Awe has now been exposed for what it is. A responce of fear and anger. Iraq is a half-hearted attempt at nation building. Build a nation just like good old America and all the peoples of that nation will greet us as liberators.
Well that did not happen. It has not even got close. The only thing the Iraq war has done for the American citizen is kill our soldiers and drain our economy. Though it did give President Bush a boost in the polls for a couple of years. That is till all the reasons for going to war with Iraq were exposed as propaganda. The thing that is the most incredibly about this war is the American soldier. Our soldiers are the ones who will have to make this war right. The grunts on the ground are the ones paying the price for this war. A lot of people are making billions off this war. Our soldiers will be lucky to get out alive and come home to a good job.
The American soldiers who have fought in Iraq have faced enemies that change daily, literally. They are fighting in urban warfare, improvising as they go. There parents and loved ones have sent them bullet proof vests that work. Our soldiers who are there in Iraq and have fought in Iraq are fighting and dying for an undefined objective by Bush. There is really nothing more vague that what is it that this war in Iraq is for. The answers are not there. Yet our soldiers keep fighting and enforcing a presidents policy that has failed to work.
Our soldiers are going to stick it out. That's the way they are built. Our soldiers are going to make it right. And it is not going to be the way Bush and Haliburtion think is right. Bush and his buddies will be busy rewritine history and spending all the money they made. Our soldiers will get a new commander soon, and America will have a chance to do what is right in Iraq. Let the people of Iraq, all the people of Iraq create a nation as they see fit, if that is three seperate tribes; so be it.. Our soldiers can be thier to help them, but they can't do it for them.
