Testimonies: Why I decided to cancel cable television

I have been without cable television for the last two years, and now I've learned to live without it. In fact, I can do without.

I have plenty of things around my house that'll entertain me. I have my computer and the Internet where I can do my channel surfing. I can always go on YouTube and look at the various videos, especially the ones of old TV shows, commercials, and music. I can do some of my freelance writing as well as submit my stories online. I have tons of magazines that I can read. I can listen to the radio and my cassette tapes.

Because I was out of work a lot, I had to cancel my cable service simply because I couldn't afford it. I'd end up getting it back on again, only to having it cancelled again.

I also can't see myself paying nearly $70 a month for a bunch of channels that I don't even watch. Even the premium channels have movies and specials that are totally and completely uncensored. As a matter of fact, when I last had digital cable two years ago, I had an uncensored rap music channel on there. Even some of the pay-per-view and OnDemand programs are filthy and uncensored.

Cable to me is a luxury; it is not a necessity, and I have surely leared to live without it.
