Packing tips: What not to take on a tropical vacation

Tropical vacations are wonderful because you don't need to load your luggage up with bulky sweaters and coats, boots or mittens. You can travel much lighter. Bright, cool cottons, capris, shorts, perhaps a skirt or two that you can mix or match with
knit tops, a pair of dressy sandals, a casual sandal and tennis or jogging shoes. Add a wide brimmed hat to keep the sun off your face. your bathing suit, a cover up
or sarong, a bright shawl or light jacket and you are pretty much set. Even make up should be lighter, hair tied back in a pretty ribbon or clip, minimal jewelry - bright bangles, natural wood items look nice in a tropical setting. Take a light, floral fragrance and leave the sultry, heavy scent behind.

Also, leave the formal wear at home - that skirt, your dressy sandals, a nice knit top and the shawl and a flower in your hair can be pretty stunning for the evening. And, goodness, forget stockings...leave those for your days at the office, not the sparkling waters of Tahiti! Be sure to have a nice pedicure and show off those pretty naked toes. Take along a nice tote that will accomodate your beach items, perhaps one that is clear to show the contents - no need for a briefcase on this type of vacation!
