Was the judge right to order Britney to give up sons to ex-husband KFed?

Britney Spears has shown repeatedly that being a parent is difficult for her. Whether it is because of her age, her history, or her role models she just doesn't know what she's doing. Unfortunately that puts her sons at risk of physical and mental harm

The first time that Child and Family Services were called out to investigate Ms. Spears was when her son fell out of his high chair. Nothing was done then, except perhaps for the usual behind-the-scenes counseling. Then she was photographed holding that same baby in her lap while she was driving down the highway. In most other cases such as that, the parent who was so blatantly ignoring the law would have been charged with the minimum of child endangerment. That's when Sean should have been removed from the home.

Since then, Ms. Spears has shown a complete and utter lack of maturity and stability. She has an admitted problem with substance abuse which puts her children at risk. Through the testimony of various employees it's come to light that she's put endangered and neglected these children repeatedly. Regardless of her feelings, those children should be protected from the danger their mother poses to them.

Kevin Federline should have intervened previous to his divorce from Ms. Spears. Those are his sons and it's his responsibility to make sure they are healthy and protected- even from their mother. Though it's taken him this long, he's shown that he's finally willing to step up and do what's right. Does he do so because of a sense of parental duty or in an attempt to seek revenge on his ex-wife? Only time will tell. He has shown that regardless of his low concern for his previous wife, he still cares for his other children. Perhaps Mr. Federline will prove more mature and more beneficial to his two children with Ms. Spears because of that.

Ms. Spears should be monitored by mental health professionals and allowed minimal visitation with her sons. She should undergo rigorous counseling before she's can refile for custody of them. At the present time it's clear to anyone outside of her small sphere of influence that Ms. Spears cannot or will not care for her children properly. Because of that attitude and her other very serious problems, she deserved to lose custody of those boys.
