Why do we write as we do?
A serious question - Is it because we want to be popular or we feel that we want others to listen, maybe we have this idea that we are interesting.
I can't say that any of these things really apply to me, I personally don't care if I appear interesting to others although I do hope gentlemanly, I don't care much about others listening but I do however try to be honest with my writing and give my true point of view, this may not always be acceptable to everyone but you are not able to please every one, if you cannot please people with honesty then you are fighting a loosing battle, although the subject matter of your article has a very important bearing with regard to like or dislike.
It is a matter of individual reasoning that makes most of us write or put fingers to keyboard, first and foremost I like to write anyway but if I can write something of interest to others then I have used my time well, of course I have also to feel that it is interesting too and that it may interest the reader. I do hate the idea of writing and it not being accepted in any way, wasting time is a real sin in my book well doing things seemingly of no value or interest and knowing this as you are working, that is the sin (I do not mean religiously sinful but as an adult acting in the aforementioned manner.)
Often I read material that is of no consequence whatsoever but that must be my feelings and not the feelings of everyone. Another may view the same article quite differently.
When you feel strongly about something then that could be the driving force that makes you put on that computer and fire up your word processor, you feel that it must' be written down or said, clearly in print is more permanent than word of mouth and it also may reach a wider and more varied readership.
I think I am helped when writing, somehow putting things into words rather than thoughts is a kind of therapy, maybe I am inadequate and I need that writing channel, whatever the reason I bet I am not the only one to feel some of these needs to write. You tell me?
One thing that really does get on my nerves though, that is when people take to writing they often do not even use the spell checker, this tends to reduce the impact of anything that they write, poorly written work is soon discarded. If a writer is not confident in his or her ability to write reasonably and grammatically correctly, then show your effort to someone before it is uploaded for others to view.
