There are so many tricks and tips to learn when it comes to clothing babies. There is absolutely no reason to pay full retail on clothes that will used and abused by your baby. Here are some of the ways to pinch pennies and clothe your children in name brand, adorable clothes.
1. eBay. It's by far the best kept secret for baby clothes. You can benefit from other parents cleaning out their children's closets. The best thing to do is look for 'lots' of baby clothes (huge groups of clothes in specific sizes and for specific genders). A lot of the time you can end up spending less than 50 cents per item.
2. Children's consignment stores. Most places selling secondhand clothes require them to be in amazing shape. You won't be buying clothes with stains or tears, but you will be able to spend a fraction of the price on name brand clothes. You can also trade in your old baby clothes for the next size up, with almost no out-of-pocket cost to you.
3. Garage sales. By the time people get around to doing all the work of a garage sale, they just want to get rid of their junk. It's expected that you will negotiate prices, and you can end up with a sack full of clothing for less than $5.
4. And last, but not least, the stores themselves. Most stores have a day of the week when they mark down clothing prices. It's usually in the middle of the week. Ask the store manager what day that is, and show up bright and early to find the best deals. It's possible to spend less at the actual store than at a second hand store if you know how to shop. Look for the racks in the back of the store where everything is on clearance. Shop for off season clothes and save as much as 80% on shoes, sweaters, & coats (if you are shopping in the summer, or vice versa for the winter). Many stores have coupons online and you can combine the discounts for sweet deals.
Happy shopping!
