Short stories: The calm after a storm

(Bob and the fall of capitalism)

One day Bob realised that capitalism was falling at high velocity from the sky, where it had lived with its head up its arse for far too long, and was going to hit the ground and die and kill a lot of people, and that nothing could be done to stop it hitting the ground now.

Bob no longer felt all the hatred for capitalism which had actually, inadvertently, been closely involved with the conception of Bob itself. Bob looked upon the dying capitalist entity as one does a relative who has been eaten up by time or a soldier who has fought the bulk of their battles already.

Suddenly a world previously an angry greedy menace was now reduced to being killed off and Bob suddenly realised that the plot had changed so that he would have to save lots of these capitalists from getting killed.

Finally capitalism hit the ground and luckily most people had been evacuated out of the way and so were not killed. However it was a solemn day and people tried to remember the few good things capitalism had done, and paid their respects at its funeral.

After it was buried, people moved on and decided to focus on humanity and strangely the bottom fell out of the sitcom market.
