Aromatherapy has been shown to enhance a calm environment,improve ones health,purify ones environment and help with various conditions.Aromatherapy consists of concentrates of natural plant oils.It is not necessarily the aroma that brings comfort but the reaction of the essential oils as they are absorbed into the body.When you take these essential oils and inhale them,rub them on the body,put a few drops in your bath you are using aromatherapy.
It starts with a mind-body connection,a stimulation of ones senses that impacts health.

These benefits are derived from oils of trees,shrubs,herbs and flowers.Inhaling deeply or rubbing into the skin will trigger the benefits.Different oils produce different benefits.Let us say,for example you have had a particularly stressful day then lavender would be the primary choice as it is relaxing,helps with sleep,and helps with stress headaches.This is an oil that is one of the more popular oils and used by the ancient Egyptians throughout history.
The most common uses are for relaxation,physical and memory stimulation along with antiviral properties that enhance the immune system.Some act as hormone regulators,improve skin problems and digestion or arthritic problems.Rosemary is used for muscle pain,blood pressure regulation,and circulatory issues,i.e.those who suffer with cold extremities.Bay laurel is good for skin rashes and rheumatism.Rosemary in the bath or a few drops in the bath water can improve the blood flow and warm the bodys extremities.Mint is good for nausea and indigestion.The variety of oils and their uses would take journals so suffice to say these are but a few examples.
Tea tree oil must be mentioned.One of the most versatile oils is used for everything from head lice to anti-fungal and also makes a great antiseptic.Dabbed on toothaches.bug bites,and used for sunburn.
Aromatherapy deals with the mind-body connection.One special treat is to add 5 drops lavender,lemon grass oil,tea tree and orange along with 2 cups of epsom salts for mind-body relaxation.Another way is to get a spray bottle,add your favorite scent with water and spritz the entire room.Lemon oil can be added to the laundry or the dishes for cleaner fresher clothes and dishes.
