Teaching your child to ride the school bus safely

Teaching your child how to ride the school bus safely is easily done by telling them what they can and cannot do. Make them sign a contract that they understand everything you said about the bus.

The number one thing, I can think of teaching children, is how to get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion, do not push, shove or run. Most kids like to play on the bus, trying to get off the bus first or pushing their friends are just a few of the things kids do on the bus.

Second introduce the children to the bus driver and show them where their stop is and the one at the school. Also make sure that if they see a new driver on their bus and they are not sure if they should get on the bus, tell them to ask their teachers if this is their bus and does it stop at our street.

Make sure that it is clear to the bus driver who can pick them up at their bus stop. So that he or she doesn't just let them go with anyone.

Make sure they keep all body parts inside the bus while it is moving and that they do not throw things out the window, and when exiting the bus tell them to do what the bus monitor tells them to do. Tell them not to eat or drink on the bus so that the isles are free from debris.
