Product reviews: The Magic Bullet

Over the years I have bought numerous kitchen gadgets and equipment, so much so that when my husband and I moved into this house four years ago I had enough to fully supply two kitchens. I have to say that of all the kitchen equipment I have bought through the years my recent purchase of a Magic Bullet has been one of the best investments I have made for the kitchen. I purchased it after watching one of those many thirty minute cheesy infomercials in the wee hours of the morning of a sleepless night. Fortunately for me, the Magic Bullet is one product that lives up to everything they said it would do!

The Magic Bullet is a very compact mixing, blending, chopping, you name it, piece of equipment. The unit itself, which houses the motor, is no bigger than a tall coffee mug and takes up very little counter space. The unit comes with a large and a small mixing cup, a variety of lids, and 4 party mugs that can be used to mix drinks of all types, including milkshakes. The mugs have a screw ring top onto which fits either of two blades that come with the unit, the flat blade or the cross blade.

Once the ingredients have been put in the mug, you screw the blade in place and turn the mug upside down and place it on the unit. In mere seconds the drink is ready to be served! The mugs come with 4 different colors of comfort rings that screw onto the top of the mug so that you can drink right from the mug you mixed the drink in and save additional dish washing. I love this feature! The different color rings is also great for identifying which drink belongs to who.

Each recipe is coded at the top with pictures so it is very easy to take a look at the book and know exactly which blade you will need. No recipe in the book takes more than 10 seconds to make when placed on the unit! It's amazing how fast the Magic Bullet works!

Among the lids included with the unit is a solid lid that screws onto any of the containers, including the mugs, so leftovers can be placed in the refrigerator. Also included is a lid that has holes in the top of it so that you can place food in the cups or mugs in the microwave or can serve as a shaker top for grated foods.

The instruction booklet that comes with the unit is called Magic Bullet 10 Second Recipes and User's Guide. It is over 100 pages of recipes and information on how to use and care for the unit. There are many recipes in the book that are ready in as little as 6 to 7 seconds!

I had to laugh at some of the cheesiness of the infomercial while
