We've all heard the stories of Jesus. The inspirational monks. These things were lessons learned long ago, and things we have forgotten for the sake of luxury. We have our greedy souls, and this is a product of a never sated desire. For we are not comfortable being content with our lives, we must always want more.
For to be content is that of living in a shadow of the fire, and never feeling it's heat, needing nothing more to exist and be happy.
People crave excitement, so we give up our moral values, we support a war so we can have oil, so we can have gas to get to and from work cheaply so we can spend more money on clothing that doesn't keep us warm. On big screen televisions so we can veg out for 6 hours and do nothing.
When material objects are more important than the bonds we share with our families, and the financial stress of not having enough money for these luxuries is enough to drive a family apart. When we'll play a game instead of walking our dogs, when we'll watch a movie instead of reading the book. When we will spend our lives contemplating what we need to by next instead of contemplating how to make others feel better, how to give back to society. How to ear your self respect. How to live your life fully.
We drive instead of taking a nice walk.
We'll motorboat instead of swim.
We'll give up the simple tranquil free luxuries for the luxuries we think we deserve. For the things we crave. For the life we desire. We're never sated.
Never content.
To work on ourselves instead of what game to play next.
Instead of feeding the poor, we by an overly expensive coat.
We'll sell our souls for the chance to be rich.
We'll kill thousands for the comfort of saving a few bucks at the pump.
This is a world gone wrong. This is our greedy generations.
This is our wake up call.
