Reflections

Reflections: Food that makes me feel good

Shall I start with the Main Course?...Well...Prawns, squid, mussels, cockles with a gorgeous salad of spinach, sweet peppers, cous-cous, beetroot, tomatoes and coleslaw. Then as a desert....strawberries and blueberries with evaporated milk.
Strange, but as I've got older or matured like a fine cheese I enjoy healthy foods so much more. If you'd asked the same question when I was young I would have chosen Chinese Sweet and Sour Pork with Fried Rice, followed by a squidgy chocolate desert.

This leads me to think that either I have become more selective as I've aged...or...my body will no longer tolerate the amounts of saturated fat it once could.
Whatever the answer is, and I think most people will guess right,I now enjoy different foods. If I eat too much, shall we say, chocolate of biscuits through sheer boredom, then I don't feel good I feel over full and miserable because I know its done me no good at all. I know there are times when we crave all sorts of foods that we wouldn't normally eat and it could be our body is telling us something about what it needs rather than what we crave, maybe mine is telling me I've had my full share of Chinese and chocolate and now I must repent. Whatever it is my taste for rich food is almost gone.
Virtuous I am not. I enjoy bad food in small amounts, but, it doesn't do anything for me any more. So, I listen to my body and hope it lets my mind know its doing the right thing.
