Reflections: My husband is a father

Ah..love. There is nothing in this world like it. As I stared across at my one true love on my wedding day years ago I thought what I felt could not be surpassed. I was wrong. I found this out on the day that our first child was born. I remember looking up, tired but relieved, and I saw the love of my life cradling that tiny form in his large, calloused hands. And in that moment my life was changed.

Life changes when you have a baby. Anyone who has had a child knows that. What I didn't realize was that it would change my marriage as well, and for the better. I know now that there is nothing more attractive and heart melting to me than seeing my husband with my children. I am amazed every time that I see those work hardened hands gently cradling, brushing away a tear, holding a tiny hand and showing with each touch and gesture his unconditional love.

My husband first became a father years ago. Nowadays baby talk comes easier, diaper changing is a breeze, snotty noses just part of a normal day. But every single day what he does is a new wonderful act of love. Not just to my children but to me as well. He is teaching my boys with each loving act how to be a man, a real man. How to love his wife, how to work hard, and how to be gentle. My husband is a father, and each day I am more in love.
