Ahh the sweet smell of vinegar! *cough cough* As smelly as it may be, vinegar has been one of the best cleaning products on the market. Let's take a look shall we?
Can you imagine how thrilled people were when they discovered that if you let grape juice sit it becomes wine? Can you imagine how unimpressed they were when they found that if you let wine sit it becomes vinegar? Over the years we have found tons and tons of uses for vinegar! Anything from cleaning out our bodies to cleaning out the toilet. That's pretty diverse! So what can you do with vinegar? When talking about using vinegar, unless I specifically say something different, I will be talking about white distilled vinegar.
How about cleaning your toilet? Pour 2 cups of vinegar into the bowl and let it set no less than 2 hours. Do this at night if you can so it can sit over night. It is great for removing stains and it kills germs like aphids kill a rose!
How about adding up to a pint of distilled vinegar to a bucket of hot water. It's superb in cleaning tile floors. It's a great way to clean the dirt, kill the germs and it won't leave a residue, like soaps or detergents can.
You can also clean out your washer with vinegar. No really! It's great for removing soap scum. Fill your washer with hot water. Add 1\2 pint of vinegar. Do not add clothes. Let it run through the entire cycle.
Speaking of washing machines. Did you know you can use white vinegar as a fabric softer? Make sure you use white and not Apple Cider. The Apple Cider could stain the clothes. All you do is add a half pint to your rinse cycle.
For all purpose cleaners mix equal parts of vinegar and water to a spray bottle. You can spray this on the surface you wish to clean and wipe up. This also acts as a buggie repellent.
I like to use straight vinegar to clean and kill mold. Works like a charm!
Did you know you can take wallpaper off with vinegar? Use 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water. Spray it on the wall and let it soak in. then with a paint scraper, scrape the paper off.
How about those pet oopsies? Use one part water to 2 parts vinegar on the spot the little critter made the mess and wipe up or soak up. Kills the smell too.
So we have talked about cleaning our houses, but did you know you can use vinegar on our bodies too? For real, for real! You can use vinegar for things ranging from conditioner for your hair, right down to relieving hemorrhoid pain.
For your hair pour Apple Cider vinegar straight on the hair and let sit for 1-2 minutes. It works great to soften it and remove build up from products. Then rinse, and wash with shampoo. This also work good to hold the color if you dye your hair.
Got a cough? Mix 1TBS of Apple Cider vinegar and 1TBS of honey to a glass of water. This helps. Oh yeah... you have to drink it!
How about Athlete's Foot? Soak your feet in a strong solution of Apple Cider vinegar to warm water. This will help kill the fungus. This is also good for nail fungus.
Now you don't have to be embarrassed to ask anyone about this next remedy because I am going to tell you right now! If you suffer from hemorrhoids dab a cotton ball with straight vinegar. It might sting at first but boy will it cool it and help the swelling.
Ok there are so many more ways you can use vinegar! I couldn't list them all unless I were to write a book. Hmmm Anyway, this should help. Hope you enjoy a much cleaner life! *smile*
