Pros and Cons of child labor

Pros:

1. International corporations can increase profit margins by setting up shop in countries that are lax on human rights. You can pay a child a lot less than an adult.

2. Children can quit school early! How badly did you want to drop out at age 10?

3. Extra income for families living in abject poverty (Admittedly, this one sound not-so-bad.)

4. We pay much less for cheap plastic things at Wall-Mart.

5. Children have much smaller fingers for perfoming tasks like sewing together shoes and beading jewelry.

6. Anything beats childhood prostitution.

Cons:

1. Um, real kids work hours doctors couldn't handle. And make such lousy pay that a career in fast food here would seem like a dream come true.

2. Impovershed parents are pratically forced to sell their children into wage labor slavery to survive.

3. Kids that should be learning to read are being taught how to operate looms for 16 hours a day, thus guaranteeing that they will never do anything else in life.

4. The same goods produced by adults with workers' rights become undesirable because they cost more to consumers.
