Poetry: Depression

Melancholia.

Have you ever felt the world was bad?
Or is it just you, your always sad.
Anywhere you go you face cold hard stares,
And however much you try you feel no one cares.
You feel people are pretending to like you,
On the way home you know they're smiles weren't true.

Have you ever felt the world was bad?
Or is it just you, your always sad.
When you step into the light you put on a fake smile,

But alone in the darkness you breakdown cause inside you're like a trembling child.
A friend asks how was you're day?'
You give her a weak smile and say it was OK'.
You call someone you love, someone far away
But he slams down the phone cause he's got nothing to say,
Then it comes back to you, the fight that day,
And harsh words you were never meant to say.
You were hoping he would realize there was something not right,
And say the right words to take away your fright,
But he doesn't and you know he's gone,
He doesn't need you, doesn't care if you're alone.

Have you ever felt the world was bad?
Or is it just you, you're always sad,
So you turn to alcohol and it gives you that high,
Your thoughts are soaring; you can touch the sky,
But it's only for a while,
Soon you're back in the darkness and you want to scream, but you don't make a sound,
Maybe, just maybe someone will come round,
Tears rolling down your face,
While a voice inside you says,
This isn't your place,
You don't belong,
No one will miss you when you are gone',
It says again, you have to go!
No one will miss you,
No one will ever know'

You're screaming now, STOP...please stop!' trying to make it go away,
But you start trembling, realizing the voice was true,
You were useless through and through.

Have you ever felt the world was bad?
Or is it just you, you're always sad,
Then you slash your wrists,
Shedding one last tear,
Hoping your bleeding wrists will make you disappear.
