Quick fixes for hair disasters: What to do when you've butchered your own hair

Step away from the scissors. The first mistake people make when they attempt to cut their hair and end up to short or uneven is to try to fix it themselves. Sometimes the results are okay, but generally you'll still end up looking like your five year old played 'Beauty Parlor' on your head.

There is a lot more to cutting hair than you would think. For each hair style there is a different technique of cutting. Hair must be properly parted, held at the right angles, etc. Hair cutting is definitely best left to the professionals.

But if you've already gone ahead and taken that first cut here are some tips to get you presentable enough to make that trip to the Salon.

*Put it up*
Pinning your hair up is a great way to disguise a disaster. Try a braid, a ponytail, pigtails, double braids, anything that gets that hair up and out of the way. Bobby pins are a great way to clip up stray hair that may be to short for the pin up method.

*Head wrap*
Go for that vintage fifties look and put on a head wrap. The kind the women of that long ago generation wore to keep there hair perfect in the wind. You'll look like you are ready for a ride in a 57 Chevy convertible.

*Exude Confidence*
Act as though nothing is wrong. Most people notice an entire package when they meet a person on the street. So act as though you are the most beautiful woman on earth. Smile, Use eye contact, and more than likely they won't even notice the hair 911.

Most importantly...

*Get to a Salon*
Let a professional fix what you've started. There are a number of cute styles out there now and there is at least one or two that will work with whatever it is you've done to your hair.
