"Why do people tell lies?" This is a question to man's heart. Read the following poem written by me first, and then I will tell you what I really think.
Man is exactly what He Is
Love cast a spell on man's heart
Right from the beginning,
Yes, from jump start
Why? Because,
There lies the life support center
The center where everything arrives and departs
It's where everything:
Good and evil,
Lies and truths
Separate and come together for better or for worse,
And where the spirit and flesh dance in conflict with each other,
Because the soul moves in search amidst its center
Searching always to satisfy its heart beat
Why? Because,
Man is self-centered!
Okay, to fully answer this question of "Why do people tell lies?" One must first look at several other things; such as what is a lie? Where it comes from? What is its purpose? What it does?
Now, what is a lie? A lie is a "false self-witness/testimony". What in the world is that, a false self-witness/testimony? Before I explain what I mean by this, let's look at the next question.
Where is a lie generated or come from? Look at what the poem is saying. It is basically saying that man operates on love; and as a result, everything happens in, around, and out of his heart to engage his love (good and bad). In other words, a lie is form in a man's heart.
What is the purpose of a lie? The purpose of a lie is presumably to prevent an effect from occurring.
What does a lie do? It temporarily satisfies and deceives both the liar and the receiver of the lie the moment the lie is told.
Now let's look at the "false self-witness/testimony". Okay, we already know that false means not true. So, why we have an untruth again? Oh, yes because man is so self-centered, that he is willing to do anything to protect/deceive himself and others by way of a "false" testimony via his heart; in order to engage/satisfy self-love. WOW! Is that a mouthful or what? No what it really is, is UNBELIEVABLE!
So do you see now why people tell lies; so they can be "UNBELIEVABLE".
