I have two disclaimers before I start, one when I end:
1. I have been divorced for ten years.
2. This is NOT an advice article, as everyones experience is different.
I will spare you the details of my marriage, as you had your own. You can fill in the details. Although, I imagine a lot of the feelings are the same.
She wanted me to go. So I had much to do in putting my life together. I needed an apartment, a bed, etc. Plus accommodation's for my four year old. All a great worry.
My son would come for the weekends and as hard I tried, it did not feel right. I bought him everything he wanted, took him everywhere he wanted to go. Still, all wrong.
There was so much tension between me and my ex wife at this time. She had already started dating a mutual friend. It KILLED me. I did not want her but know one else should have her.
Sometimes he would drop my son off. It was hard to be mature. I was.
I was single for about a year. Then I started dating.
I dated a (female) mechanic, my first love, a young girl who talked too much, and then I met the crazy one. I was with the latter for seven years.
Messed me up. Bad. Been single for the last two and a half years.
Disclaimer:
3.I live with my ex wife, her husband, and my son.
Yes, I rent a room from them. I get to live with my son. I've really developed a brother/sister relationship with her. I'm great friends with her husband.
My son is now a teenager. I get to be a man in his life everyday.
It does not work on paper. In real life it does for me.
