Okay so in my shortish life(nineteen years) I have only spent a total of one semester of any sort of school slacking off. During this semester during much of the times I should have been dutifully going to class or studying for those classes I was a sort of Game Hostess for a group of friends.
We are the kind of friends who can spend hours just hanging around doing nothing, joking around, and most of all COMPETING. We love nothing better than beating each other senseless at different games. While I have not introduced them to the devilish wonders of SORRY! as of yet Apples to Apples has won itself a spot as number 2 on our lists of 'games to prove who truly kicks better bum'.
The game is relatively simple. There are red and green cards. Red cards are Nouns, Green cards are Adjectives. The judge of each round pulls a Green card and Each other player puts a red card from their hand of five face down. The red cards are mixed up and flipped over as to avoid the judge picking favorites.
The judge chooses whichever card is the best match. This is entirely up to the judge so depending on his/her personality and wackiness you can end up with crazy connections or very direct ones.
What appeals to me and mine about this game is the very wackiness of the cards. Each card has a definition and some kind of witty little phrase on it. You can get anything from Meatloaf to Hiroshima to Canadians for your red cards and Delightful, Evil, or Furry for your green cards. Another wonderful thing about the game is that they give you a ridiculous number of cards so there is endless replay value.
If you are prone to wackiness Apples to Apples is the game for you.
