Should the FDA regulate natural supplements and herbal remedies? Where does it end? The FDA trying regulate natural supplements and herbal remedies along with the overpriced drugs that have somehow won their approval by special interests groups?
The Food and Drug administration has proved itself to be unreliable as regulators of food and drug safety in the United States when they approved drugs by large pharmaceutical companies who could afford to lobby in Washington.

People who use natural supplements and herbal remedies often educate themselves through the use of books, periodicals and magazines. Naturalists and doctors who specialize in natural medicine are qualified by the medical community to diagnose, treat and recommend natural treatment regimens illnesses are good sources for natural treatments. People who have a trust in the use of vitamins and herbs often use naturalists and doctors who specialize in natural medicine in addition to gathering information from books and magazines.

FDA regulation and control of the vitamin and herb industry and could conclude in required licensing of all these natural supplement companies and could result in some vitamin supplements being dispensed by a licensed doctor under a new prescription law. Drugs sold in the United States are already overpriced and obvious favoritism is shown by the FDA to those drug companies who pay large amount of money to lobbyists and offer congress men high paying jobs after their terms are finished. Do we really want this to happen in the vitamin and natural supplement industries?

People enjoy the convenience and freedom of using natural alternatives to medicine and regulation by the FDA would result in tighter controls, possible licensing and even prescriptions by law on many vitamin and natural supplements.

Quality controls in the vitamin and natural supplement industry are already provided by the USPV and NFS. Vitamin and natural supplements are generally safe to use and their is no reason why the FDA should regulate them.
